The rectangle works best with photos taken in vertical (portrait) orientation, with the subject's face filling a comfortable portion of the frame. Full-face portraits, wedding photos, baby photos, family portraits with two or three faces, and travel photos with one or two people in the foreground all engrave with sharp detail. Wide group shots and landscape orientations are better suited to the heart shape for romantic close-ups or a cube shape for 360° viewing of group photos.

What sizes are available for the rectangle crystal? The rectangle 3D Memory Crystal comes in five sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL, and Max. Size guidance: a single face engraves well at any size; two faces work best from Medium and up; group portraits with three or more people should be Large or larger. Does the rectangle work in vertical and horizontal orientation? The rectangle is optimized for vertical (portrait) orientation, which suits most portrait photos. Horizontal landscape compositions can be engraved but the engraving area is shorter — for landscape orientations or wide group shots, the cube shape (visible on four faces simultaneously) is often a better fit.

What's the difference between Standard and 4K HD engraving? Standard engraving produces a sharp, clear 3D image suitable for most photos. The 4K HD upgrade increases the resolution of the laser engraving — more points per cubic centimeter — adding finer detail and smoother gradients. For close-up viewing or photos with intricate facial detail, 4K HD is recommended. Both use the same 100% K9 optical crystal and the same hand-polish process.

How many people can I fit in a rectangle crystal? One face engraves beautifully in any size. Two faces work best at Medium and up. Three or more faces should choose Large, XL, or Max — the larger sizes give each face enough engraving area to retain sharp detail. Our design team reviews every photo before production and will contact you if your image needs adjustment for the chosen size.

What photo works best for a rectangle crystal? A clear, well-lit photo in vertical orientation with the subject's face occupying a prominent portion of the frame produces the sharpest engraving. Photos shot in good natural light from a recent phone or camera generally have enough resolution. Older or lower-resolution photos can often be enhanced — send what you have and we'll tell you what's possible.
